I had never had the proper training on how to write; on how to become a good writer. I searched and searched and searched but couldn’t seem to find the help I was looking for. Where were the tools I needed? Where were the teachers and guidance I needed.

Important Study Tools!

When I was in school, one of the hardest tasks for me was writing. Teachers simply expected us to start writing and I found it to be so difficult. The ideas would just not be there. Putting sentences together was even more difficult. As I moved through the schooling years, I couldn’t help to wonder why it was so difficult for me. I knew that there must be a better way. There must be something I can do to make writing easier. It was only when I got to college that I started to better my writing skills. I found out about the writing services they offered but even that was not exactly what I was looking for.

I took several English courses at Dawson which helped me a great deal. It was only when I got to university that I realized how poor my writing skills were.

I had never had the proper training on how to write; on how to become a good writer. I searched and searched and searched but couldn’t seem to find the help I was looking for.

It was difficult to find an outside source that could help edit and improve my writing. It was only when I got to university that I got the help I actually needed. I attended writing workshops, made a weekly appointment with a writing assistant from Concordia and registered to many English courses as electives.

My constant effort and my drive to become a better writer is what helped me reach my goal. This is to show you how crucial it is to have the right tools . But what’s more important is having access to the right resources.

Could you imagine how a little child feels when they do not understand a concept at school and do not how to overcome the challenge? Even as an adult I felt incompetent, hopeless, frustrated, discouraged and so on.

Imagine how a little child feels when they struggle with school? Imagine what is going on in the child’s head?

Thanks so much for this post it was very helpful. I wish this was a subject matter that was covered in detail in high school.. My son is in Dawson now and still has trouble with keeping good study skills.
